| Churches call to write boldly to bring positive changes in society |
| Writers are creators of ideas that changes the society |
The Commission on Communication and Relations of the National Council of Churches in India (NCCI-COCR), Indian Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge (ISPCK), Board for Theological Text Book Programs of South Asia (BTTBPSA) Bangalore, and Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) jointly organized a National Writer’s Workshop from April 28 – 30, 2010 at Impur. Around 40 participants, mostly media persons from the Church/Organisation attended this Workshop. The main aim of the workshop was to promote writing skills and to enhance efficiency in writings and book shop management.
Rev. Walu Walling, the vice-president of BTTBPSA and Literature and Education Secretary of ABAM, asserted that unless writers are bold enough, they would not make any impact in the society by their writings. In this regard, he urged the local reporters of various newspapers and media houses to be bold enough to face criticism that may come their way.
Dr. Mar Atsongchanger encouraged the participants to write to bring positive changes in the society. He asserted that writers and authors are the creators of ideas that change the society for better. He also exhorted the writers by sayings that through their writings they live for more than two or three generations.
Rev. Dr. Ashish Amos and Ms. Ella Sonawane of ISPCK urged the participants to write something creative, so that it can be put in a book form after necessary editing. The ISPCK celebrates her 300 years. Indigenous publishing, media ethics and journalism, contemporary writing and publishing were the other areas covered in the workshop.
